2SQ4R: The Development of Robinson’s Method
Abstract
Reading strategy is a creative and structured process for teaching students to improve the learning process by self. It is a complicated task that involves the alignment of numerous cognitive skills and abilities. It is also a multidimensional process that intricate a complex level of intellectual capacity. The practice of reading strategies in reading process is very crucial as it offers success not only in comprehending the text but also able to overcome reading difficulties which later develop a better reader or help them become a “systematically prudent” readers. It is crucial for language instructors to practice suitable reading strategies so the students manage to comprehend the information from the text implicitly, decipher the textual content, distinguish the transitional markers, identify the text organisation as well as ability to analyse various types of text. This current study is carefully designed to utilise the methodical reading strategy: skim, scan, question, read, reflect, reword, and review (2SQ4R) systematic reading strategies using academic texts as scaffolding to enhance reading comprehension performance.
