Abstract

In company X the robot painting line was built to speed up the process and to balance the number of parts between the manual painting line and the robot line. In manual line use operators to spray the parts and at robot line use electronic painting robot to spray the parts. The main problem that hinders production is high cycle time at robot line this is because the position of the floor jig at manual booth is not accurate to the hanger check point during robot spray. The significance of the delay is that after the primer is sprayed, the conveyor makes a big round before going to the manual booth to touch up. Time study is applied to measure the cycle time of process. This study to improve productivity in assembly line for reduced cycle time. The process on the robot line is delayed when the cycle time of the robot is higher than the manual line.
