Abstract

This study describes the creation of an intelligent cane navigation system for visually impaired individuals. A visually impaired person, including the totally blind, generally utilises a guiding stick for aid when going around and completing everyday chores. With the latest technology, it is possible to design an intelligent device that alerts the person on the occurrence of an obstacle based on the distance between the person and the obstacle by using an Ultrasonic sensor. Furthermore, to develop an accurate cane system that has the capability of integrating sensors. Moreover, to improve an innovative white cane by applying a smartphone location notification system. This cane is incorporated with sensors such as an ultrasonic sensor for obstacle prevention and provides a speech navigation output by using the DFplayer mini in conjunction with Arduino Nano. Moreover, to improve an innovative white cane by applying a smartphone navigation notification system. This device can be used to assist visually impaired people to travel with the same ease and level of confidence as that of a sighted person. An extra facility of a geographical location tracking system is integrated with a cane so that in case of emergency, tracking the location of a blind person would become very easy for their relatives. Additionally, visually impaired people can experience better mobility such as access navigation and exploration features Smartphone applications. The data output will display the time, distance, and location of the cane.
